We’d like to congratulate to Kevin Hill, Test Engineer, who is retiring after a remarkable 49 years of service. Kevin joined Slaters Electricals as an Apprentice Electrical Fitter on 8th August 1977 and has spent his entire career with the company.
After refurbishing, troubleshooting, maintaining and testing legacy British switchgear for almost 50 years, Kevin’s knowledge is extraordinary.
During his time, Kevin has been called upon to travel all over the world to support customers with their legacy equipment and has trained many of the test engineers we have at Slaters today, passing on his knowledge to the engineers of tomorrow. This is in addition to ensuring all refurbished equipment is comprehensively tested & quality controlled, as well as regularly carrying out Factory Acceptance Tests with customers at our facility.
Please join us in wishing Kevin all the best for his retirement as we thank him for his huge contribution, loyalty and dedication to Slaters.
We’d also like to congratulate Karl Smee who has been promoted to Test Engineer (Switchgear). Karl also joined Slaters as an Apprentice Electrical Fitter, straight from school in 2004.
Over the last two decades, he has steadily progressed through the ranks, working with experienced engineers like Kevin, gaining extensive practical knowledge and technical expertise across switchgear testing, maintenance, refurbishment, and fault finding.
At Slaters Electricals, investing in Apprenticeships has always been a priority and Kevin’s whole career service and Karl’s progression is testament to that.
